A CT scan (Computed Tomography) is one of the fastest diagnostic imaging tests available. A brain CT takes as little as 3–5 seconds inside the machine. Most scans are complete in under 15 minutes, reports are ready within hours, and CT scan cost in Delhi ranges from ₹1,500 to ₹14,000 — depending on the body part, whether contrast dye is used, and the type of centre you choose.
This page covers the complete 2026 Delhi NCR price list for every common CT scan type — brain, chest, HRCT, abdomen, sinuses, spine, and CT Coronary Angiography — so you can compare and book with confidence.

Prices verified June 2026 from EVE Healthcare partner centres across Delhi NCR. "Lowest" = standalone diagnostic labs. "Average" = NABL-accredited diagnostic chains. "Premium" = large private diagnostic centres. Contrast material adds ₹1,000–₹2,500. All EVE partner centres are NABL-accredited.
Where These Prices Come From
The price ranges on this page are compiled from EVE Healthcare's active partner centre network of 40+ diagnostic labs and chains across Delhi NCR. Our team contacts partner centres directly each quarter to verify current pricing — we do not pull prices from third-party aggregators or hospital websites.
Methodology: Prices reflect rates available for direct booking through EVE Healthcare at NABL-accredited standalone diagnostic labs and diagnostic chains. Hospital rates are excluded from all ranges — hospitals typically charge 40–80% above what you will find through EVE partner centres for equivalent scan quality. The "Lowest" column reflects the floor price at EVE partner centres. The "Average" reflects the median across our active network. The "Premium" reflects the upper range at larger NABL-accredited chains in high-cost areas such as South Delhi and Gurgaon.
Prices reviewed quarterly. Last verified: June 2026. Next review: September 2026.
32-Slice vs 64-Slice vs 128-Slice — Which CT Scanner Do You Need?
CT scanners are classified by how many cross-sectional images (slices) they capture per rotation. More slices means faster scanning, thinner image cuts, and better detail for complex studies. For most routine scans the difference is clinically insignificant. For cardiac and vascular CT it matters significantly.

10–25% premium |
|
256/320-slice |
CT Coronary Angiography — the only scan that truly requires this |
— |
Specialist centres only |
For most prescriptions — brain, chest, abdomen, sinuses, spine — a 32 or 64-slice scanner at an NABL-accredited diagnostic lab produces clinically equivalent results to hospital-based scanning at significantly lower cost. EVE partner centres operate 32–128 slice scanners.
When your doctor writes a minimum slice count on the prescription: This is a clinical specification, not a preference. Do not book a lower-slice centre for cardiac CT or pulmonary embolism studies — the diagnostic quality is genuinely different in these cases.
HRCT Chest in Delhi — Complete Guide
HRCT (High-Resolution CT) Chest uses thin imaging slices and specialised reconstruction to produce extremely fine-detail images of the lung tissue. It is the gold-standard investigation for:
- Interstitial lung disease (ILD) — the single most important test for diagnosing ILD patterns including UIP, NSIP, and COP
- Pulmonary fibrosis — staging extent and monitoring progression
- Bronchiectasis — defining distribution and severity
- Sarcoidosis — characteristic lymph node and lung parenchyma patterns
- Post-COVID lung assessment — ground-glass changes, fibrotic sequelae, and long-COVID respiratory symptoms
- Hypersensitivity pneumonitis — mosaic attenuation and ground-glass patterns
HRCT Chest costs ₹2,300 – ₹5,000 in Delhi at standalone and NABL-accredited diagnostic labs. It is almost always performed without contrast.
Preparation: No fasting required. Remove metal objects from the chest area. You will be asked to hold your breath briefly — typically 5–8 seconds — during the scan. The scan takes 5–10 minutes.
HRCT vs plain CT Chest: A plain CT Chest gives a broad overview of the lungs, mediastinum, and chest wall. HRCT provides much finer parenchymal detail. If your pulmonologist has specifically requested HRCT, do not substitute a plain CT Chest — they are diagnostically different studies.

CT Coronary Angiography (CTCA) in Delhi
CT Coronary Angiography is a non-invasive alternative to traditional catheter-based angiography for visualising the coronary arteries and detecting blockages, narrowing, and plaque. It is prescribed for:
- Chest pain workup in patients with intermediate pre-test probability of coronary artery disease
- Pre-surgical cardiac evaluation
- Assessment of known coronary anomalies
- Monitoring of coronary artery bypass grafts or stents
Cost in Delhi: ₹8,000 – ₹14,000. Always performed with contrast dye. Requires a 256 or 320-slice scanner — confirm the scanner specification with the centre before booking.
Preparation:
- Fast for 4–6 hours before the scan
- Avoid all caffeine for 24 hours before
- Your cardiologist may prescribe a beta-blocker to slow heart rate — a rate above 65 bpm significantly reduces image quality
- Bring a list of all current medications
- Diabetic patients on metformin: inform the centre — metformin may need to be paused for 48 hours after the contrast injection
Is a prescription required? Yes — CT Coronary Angiography requires a cardiologist's or physician's prescription and should not be self-referred.

CT KUB in Delhi — Kidney Stone Scan
CT KUB (Kidneys, Ureter, Bladder) is the most accurate non-invasive test for diagnosing kidney stones, ureteric stones, and urinary tract obstruction. It is significantly more sensitive than ultrasound for detecting small stones and is the investigation of choice when a patient presents with acute flank pain.
CT KUB is typically performed without contrast — the stones themselves are highly visible on non-contrast CT. Cost in Delhi: ₹2,000 – ₹4,500. No fasting required. Results available within 1–2 hours at most centres.

CT Abdomen in Delhi
CT Abdomen is one of the most commonly requested CT scans in Delhi, used to investigate abdominal pain, liver disease, kidney conditions, bowel obstruction, appendicitis, and suspected masses. It is frequently performed as CT Abdomen + Pelvis to cover both regions in a single study.
Non-contrast CT Abdomen costs ₹2,500 – ₹5,000. Contrast-enhanced CT Abdomen (CECT Abdomen) costs ₹4,500 – ₹9,000 and is required for cancer staging, liver lesion characterisation, and vascular assessment. Preparation: fast for 4–6 hours. Oral contrast may be required — your centre will advise.
What Affects CT Scan Cost in Delhi?
Body part and complexity Simple single-region scans — brain, sinuses, one section of spine — sit at the lower end. Combined scans (abdomen + pelvis) and complex vascular studies cost more. Emergency or out-of-hours scanning attracts a 10–20% premium at most centres.
Contrast vs non-contrast Contrast-enhanced CT (CECT) uses an IV injection of iodine-based dye to highlight blood vessels, tumours, and organ vascularity. Look for "CECT", "with contrast", or "contrast-enhanced" on your prescription. Contrast adds ₹1,000–₹2,500 depending on the centre. Never substitute non-contrast for contrast unless your doctor has cleared the change — in cancer staging, pulmonary embolism workup, and vascular studies, the contrast images are the diagnostic finding.
Scanner generation Higher-slice scanners cost more to operate and carry a 5–25% price premium for specialised studies. For routine scans, the cost difference is not clinically justified. For cardiac CT, it is non-negotiable.
Centre type Standalone diagnostic labs offer lowest prices with same-day availability. NABL-accredited diagnostic chains (EVE partner centres) sit in the mid-range with quality assurance. Private hospital radiology departments add 40–80% overhead for equivalent results.
CT Scan Radiation — How Much Is It Really?
CT scans use ionising radiation. Understanding the dose in context helps patients make informed decisions rather than avoiding a necessary scan out of unfounded fear.
|
Imaging Test |
Approximate Radiation Dose |
Equivalent Background Radiation |
|
Chest X-ray |
0.1 mSv |
~10 days |
|
CT Brain (Head) |
2 mSv |
~8 months |
|
HRCT Chest |
3 – 5 mSv |
1 – 2 years |
|
CT Chest (routine) |
5 – 7 mSv |
2 – 3 years |
|
CT Abdomen |
8 mSv |
~3 years |
|
CT Abdomen + Pelvis |
10 – 14 mSv |
4 – 5 years |
|
CT Coronary Angiography |
5 – 15 mSv |
2 – 6 years |
|
CT Whole Body |
15 – 30 mSv |
6 – 12 years |
mSv = millisieverts. Background radiation is the natural radiation dose received from the environment, food, and cosmic rays — approximately 2.4 mSv per year on average in India.
What this means in practice:
A single CT Brain is equivalent to about 8 months of background radiation — a level considered negligible in terms of lifetime cancer risk for a diagnostic scan. A CT Abdomen is higher, but still in a range where the diagnostic benefit almost always far outweighs the risk when ordered appropriately.
The important principle: a medically necessary CT scan should not be avoided because of radiation concern. The risk of missing a diagnosis — stroke, pulmonary embolism, appendicitis, cancer — is orders of magnitude greater than the radiation risk from a single diagnostic CT. The precautions that matter are avoiding unnecessary repeat CT scans, choosing MRI or ultrasound when they answer the same clinical question, and being particularly careful in children and young adults where the cumulative lifetime risk is higher.
Is CT scan dangerous? No — not when used for a medically indicated purpose. Diagnostic CT scans have been used safely for 50 years and the risk from a single scan to any individual patient is extremely small. The radiation doses in the table above are well below the threshold at which any deterministic health effects occur. The concern about radiation is relevant to cumulative exposure over a lifetime, not to a single diagnostic scan.
How to Prepare for a CT Scan
Routine CT — brain, spine, sinuses, chest No special preparation. Eat, drink, and take medications as normal.
Abdominal or pelvic CT Fast for 4–6 hours. Plain water is allowed freely. Your centre may require oral contrast — a dilute liquid taken 1–2 hours before the scan to opacify the bowel — and will advise you when confirming the appointment.
CT with IV contrast (CECT) Fast for 4–6 hours. Inform the radiologist of:
- Kidney disease or reduced kidney function — iodine contrast is cleared by the kidneys; impaired clearance can cause contrast nephropathy
- Diabetes — particularly if on metformin (see below)
- Known allergy to iodine, shellfish, or previous contrast reactions
- Hyperthyroidism — iodine load can trigger thyroid storm in uncontrolled hyperthyroidism
CT Coronary Angiography See the dedicated preparation guide in the CTCA section above.
All CT scans — always:
- Remove metal objects: belt buckles, jewellery, piercings, hairpins, underwired bras, watches
- Inform the technician of any implanted devices before the scan begins
Diabetic patients on metformin: Metformin must be paused for 48 hours after any contrast CT scan. Contrast dye temporarily reduces kidney function; metformin accumulates when kidneys are not clearing it normally, potentially causing lactic acidosis. Inform your centre and your treating doctor before the scan so the pause can be planned.
Radiation and pregnancy: Pregnant women should inform the radiologist before any CT scan. Ultrasound or MRI is preferred in pregnancy unless the clinical situation is an emergency.

Understanding Your CT Scan Report
|
Term |
What It Means |
|
Hypodense |
Area appears darker than surrounding tissue — may indicate fluid, fat, infarct, or low-density lesion |
|
Hyperdense |
Area appears brighter — may indicate fresh bleeding, calcification, or contrast uptake |
|
Isodense |
Same density as surrounding tissue — can make some lesions harder to identify on non-contrast CT |
|
Consolidation |
Airspace in the lung is filled with fluid, pus, or cells — seen in pneumonia and other infections |
|
Ground-glass opacity (GGO) |
Hazy increase in lung density without obscuring vessels — common on HRCT, many causes |
|
Mass / lesion |
Abnormal tissue — size, shape, location, and enhancement characteristics determine significance |
|
No acute intracranial pathology |
No bleeding, stroke, or urgent brain finding — a normal CT brain report phrase |
|
Renal calculus / calculi |
Kidney stone(s) — size and location noted for urological management |
|
CECT |
Contrast-enhanced CT — the study was performed with IV contrast dye |
|
Attenuation / HU |
How tissue absorbs X-rays, measured in Hounsfield Units — the basis of CT image interpretation |
Always have your CT report reviewed by the doctor who ordered it. The radiologist describes the findings in technical terms. Your treating doctor connects those findings to your symptoms and decides on the next step.
